A re-interpretation of 17th Century still life paintings
Volkskrant Magazine asked Anne Claire to make an interpretation of a still life painting from the 17th century. Anne Claire chose a still life with meat, vegetables and fruit by Jacob van Hulsdonck.
Inspired by the colourful character of the painting as well as the perspective, which Anne Claire felt was a little off, she took the perspective as a starting point for her image.
“The image can be viewed from 3 different angles. When you look at the image, you feel that something is off, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is. You can see the image as a study on perspective.” – Anne Claire de Breij.
